Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Scotland) at SCQF Level 6

This qualification is aimed at anyone wanting to work as a door supervisor in the UK.

Under the Private Security Industry Act 2001, all door supervisors must hold a licence to practise issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

The BIIAB Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry (Scotland) at SCQF Level 6 is a nationally recognised qualification and is endorsed by the SIA and accredited by SQA.

Successful completion of this qualification enables a door supervisor to meet one of the requirements to apply for their licence.

To complete this qualification learners are expected to undertake approximately 61 hours of learning. The SIA stipulates a minimum of 44 contact hours (6-days) if self-study is undertaken.

The qualification comprises 4 mandatory units:

  • Unit 4 – Physical Intervention Skills within the Private Security Industry.
  • Unit 3 – Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry.
  • Unit 2 – Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry.
  • Unit 1 – Working within the Private Security Industry.
  • Assessment:
  • Unit 1 – 72-question multiple-choice examination paper plus practical assessment.
  • Unit 2 – 50-question multiple-choice examination paper plus practical assessment.
  • Unit 3 – 20-question multiple-choice examination paper plus practical assessment.
  • Unit 4 – 30-question multiple-choice examination paper plus ongoing practical assessment throughout the course by the tutor and a knowledge assessment marked by the course tutor.

The minimum attendance required for this course to go ahead is 4 candidates. If your application exceeds this number or there are insufficient numbers to proceed, you will be offered a date on the next available course. Should you not wish to attend an alternative date, a refund will be issued.
